Somatic Support Space Part I
In the first part of this two-part workshop, we will practice connecting back to our bodies, explore how to embody our boundaries and learn to listen and recognize our nervous system’s responses. The practices will be offered with a focus on empowering ourselves aftermath of experiencing violence and/or discrimination. We will not share or talk about our past experiences. Rather, we will create a soft container together, where we can experience connection and support for what resides in our bodies.
During the workshop, we will practice some movements together that are adaptable to sitting or lying down, and there will be resting times to digest the collective and individual processes. So, it is better to have comfortable clothing. You might also like to bring an item that feels supportive, something to journal, and some snacks! – in case you would like to share some food with others in our break time (not compulsory).
Somatic Support Space Part II
In the second part of the workshop, we will explore resilience through connection, embodying our emotions without being overwhelmed by them, and working with anger. We will also learn about our wired responses to danger, and distinguishing when to listen to them and when they are not serving us. As in the previous workshop, the practices will be offered with a focus on empowering ourselves aftermath of experiencing violence and/or discrimination. We will not share or talk about our past experiences. Rather, we will continue to experience being in our bodies in slowness, in a soft container that we create together.
It is not necessary to join the first workshop to participate in the second one, yet they will complete each other. You are very welcome to join one or both of them.
