Who We Are

About Us
At L-SUPPORT, we support those who are affected by anti-lesbian and anti-queer violence, as well as caregivers, witnesses, and professionals. Women, lesbians*, inter*, non-binary, trans* masculine and feminine, and agender people (FLINTA* in German) are exposed to various forms of violence in our patriarchal society. These include, for example, intersections of sexism, queerphobia, racism, antisemitism, classism, and ableism.
When considering queerphobic violence, lesbian* and queer realities are often not the focus. We want to change that.
The Berlin anti-violence project L-SUPPORT raises awareness of hostility towards lesbians and queer people. We offer concrete support to those who experience anti-queer violence, their partners, their families, their peers as well as witnesses of queer violence to develop empowerment and prevention strategies.
The project aims to help those affected by anti-lesbian and anti-queer violence feel encouraged and empowered. In addition, we take a public stand to raise awareness of anti-lesbian and anti-queer violence and its social causes. In political committees, we work with allies to promote the rights of FLINTA*.
Note on Language Usage
We write lesbians* to indicate the diversity of lesbian* lifestyles. The asterisk stands for multiple affiliations, deviations, extensions, as well as to make visible different attitudes towards the term “lesbian*” or other more or less synonymous terms.
We therefore understand the asterisk as a sign of diversity and intersectional visibility. We understand labels and queer terminology, or language, to be fundamentally fluid, shaped by time, and constantly changing.
Each person has the power to define their own self-identification.
