We support the nationwide campaign “Vote for Love.”

Voting for love instead of borders: Berliner CSD e. V. participates in nationwide CSD campaign “Vote for Love” for the 2025 federal election and calls on people to vote

Berlin, January 8, 2025

As the first signatory, Berliner CSD e. V. is supporting the nationwide CSD movement’s “Vote for Love” campaign in the run-up to the federal elections. The association aims to raise awareness among (non-)voters about the rights of the queer community and encourage them to vote for democratic parties that advocate diversity, tolerance, and equality in the elections on February 23, 2025.

“As the queer community in Berlin, we want our campaign to send a clear message about a positive future. Many queer people in our city feel completely unsettled because the tone against us is becoming harsher. But no one is taking anything away from anyone by granting rights to queer people.
On the contrary: we are certain that solidarity, love, and protection of minorities make us strong as a city.” – Thomas Hoffmann, board member of Berliner CSD e. V.

Every voter in our city can take a clear stand for love, respect, and freedom and support the queer community here locally. We can show that hatred and division will never win and that we stand together in Berlin. Especially in times when right-wing extremist parties and political movements are trying to stir up hatred and intolerance, it is crucial to send a strong signal in support of democracy and human rights.

“Liberal democracy is not just an abstract concept, but means for us quite specifically being able to live in dignity and freedom. However, minorities are always dependent on the solidarity of the majority population. While we understand the problems that currently exist, they must be viewed in a differentiated manner and resolved calmly. Some political forces rely on supposedly simple solutions and promote prejudice against minorities. We oppose this and show that we stand together.” – Mara Geri, board member of Berliner CSD e. V.

Our demands and “Winter CSD” on February 15, 2025, in Berlin

Berliner CSD e. V. calls on the future federal government to finally include queer people in the Basic Law, to provide financial support for queer projects, and to better protect the community from hate crimes and hate speech! Berliner CSD will also campaign for this in Berlin as part of a nationwide day of action on February 15, 2025. At 11:55 a.m. – i.e. “5 minutes to 12” – we want to make a loud and confident stand for the interests of the queer community in the future federal government and call for votes at a winter CSD under the motto “Vote for love – while you still can.”

We’ll start at the Bundestag, then move on to Potsdamer Platz and Lützowplatz before ending up in the Nollendorf neighborhood. We call on all Berliners to pack warm clothes, thermos flasks, colorful signs, and good spirits on February 15, 2025, and join us at the
Winter CSD to demonstrate for a free, fair, and colorful future in Berlin, Germany, and the whole world!

We also communicate all information about the campaign and our actions via our social media channels on Instagram (@waehl_liebe and @csd.berlin.pride) and on the nationwide campaign website www.waehl-liebe.de. Here, interested parties can find out, for example, how the parties position themselves on queer issues.
